ฟุตบอลลีกภูมิภาค ดิวิชั่น 2 โซนภาคอีสาน ประจำฤดูกาลปี 2553 ได้เริ่มต้นขึ้นเป็นสัปดาห์แรก ในวันอาทิตย์ที่ 14 กุมภาพันธ์ 2553 ทีมยักษ์แสดอุดรธานี เอฟซี ได้เปิดบ้านรับการเยือนของทีมน้องใหม่(แต่ชื่อ) บ้านใกล้เรือนเคียง ทีม กฟผ. หนองบัวลำภู ยูไนเต็ด เจ้าของฉายา ทีมสายฟ้าฟาดจากภูพานคำ โดยจะเริ่มดวลแข้งกันที่สนาม สพล.อุดรธานี เวลา 18.00 น. เก็บค่าผ่านประตู 40 บาท ครับ
ทีมยักษ์แสด อุดรธานี ปีนี้ เปลี่ยนแปลงทีมบ้างพอสมควร สต๊าฟโค้ช ยังเป็นชุดเดิม เมื่อปีที่แล้ว แต่สับเปลี่ยนตำแหน่งให้อาจารย์แหล่ วิทยา การธนะภักดี ขึ้นมาเป็น เฮดโค้ชแทนเท่านั้นเอง ส่วนนักเตะ กว่าครึ่งทีมยังเป็นนักเตะชุดเดิมของเมื่อปีที่แล้ว ที่ได้อันดับ 3 ของตาราง เมื่อจบการแข่งขัน แต่ได้นักเตะใหม่มาเสริม ที่สามารถทดแทนตัวเดิมได้ทันที เช่น เจ้าเอ้ อรรถพล โพธิ์กระจ่าง ผู้รักษาประตูที่ย้ายมาจาก ทีมมุกดาหาร เจ้ากรด คุณากรณ์ พึ่งพา อดีตศูนย์หน้าองทีมนครสวรรค์ และยังได้นักเตะผิวสีมาเสริมจุดบอดอีก 2 คน คือ จอห์น คัวร์ เซ็นเตอร์ฮาล์ฟ ชาวไนจีเรีย โคเน่ กองกลางตัวทำลายเกมส์ ชาวไอเวอร์รี่โคต ทีมยักษ์แสด ลงอุ่นเครื่อง ทดลองทีมไป 2 ครั้ง แพ้ 1 ครั้ง เสมอ 1 ครั้ง ทำให้สต๊าฟโค้ชได้มองเห็นข้อบกพร่องที่ต้องแก้ไขพอสมควร
ส่วนทีมสายฟ้าภูพานคำ กฟผ. หนองบัวลำภู ยูไนเต็ด เป็นทีมน้องใหม่ เล่นฟุตบอลลีกดิวิชั่น 2 เป็นปีแรก แต่ได้รับการสนับสนุน จาก การไฟฟ้าฝ่ายผลิต อำเภอน้ำพอง ขอนแก่น ในการทำทีมครั้งนี้ จึงมีเงินทุนก้อนโตที่สามารถดึงนักเตะเด่นของภาคอีสานมารวมกันได้ โดยเฉพาะนักเตะ ดิวิชั่น 1 ของทีมขอนแก่นมาเล่นให้หลายคนเช่น กำพล โพธิ์หล้า , วุฒิศักดิ์ ศรีลาดเลา แล้วยังได้นักเตะระดับทีมเยาวชนไทยอายุ 18 ปี จากทีมราชประชา มาเสริมด้วยคือ กิตติภพ ชินาธิปชานนท์ นอกจากนั้นยังมีอดีตนักเตะเมืองย่าโมโคราชมาร่วมทีมเช่น เอกภพ ศรีจันทร์ และอาทิตย์ นาชัยสงค์ ทีมสายฟ้าภูพานคำ มีนักเตะในท้องถิ่น จังหวัดหนองบัวลำภู รวมทีมเพียง 6 คนเท่านั้นเอง นอกนั้นเป็นยอดฝีมือจากทั่วภาคอีสาน ดังนั้นโอกาสที่ยักษ์แสดจะคว้าชัยในนักแรก จึงไม่ใช่เรื่อง่ายๆ จังหวัดหนองบัวลำภู ห่างจากสนามเหย้าของทีมยักษ์แสด อุดรธานี เพียง 40 กิโลเมตร จึงคาดว่าจะมีกองเชียร์ทีมเยือน ตามมาเชียร์ในนัดนี้ หลายร้อยคนเหมือนกัน
ผลแพ้ชนะ ของคู่นี้ ขอฟันธงไปที่ทีมเจ้าถิ่น หากได้ประตูเร็ว อาจมีไหล แต่เจ้าบ้านคงไม่พ่ายในบ้านคาสนามแน่นอน เนื่องจากพลิกดูสถิติของการเจอกันของ 2 ทีมนี้มาทุกชุด อุดรไม่เคยแพ้ เลยครับ
